PRO-LAB RADON IN WATER TEST KITDIRECTIONS 1Choose a faucet that is closest to your home or office water inlet and remove the aerator (if present) with the pliers by turning it counter-clockwise. To avoid scratching the aerator, you may want to use a cloth rag between the pliers and the aerator. Turn on the cold water and allow it to run for 3-5 minutes. (For accurate results, thoroughly flush the water system before sampling or take the water samples immedi- ately following prolonged water use, such as a shower or laundry). While you are waiting for the water to purge, uncap the two (2) glass sample vials. 2Hold a large clean bowl (gallon size) or similar container up to the faucet and slowly fill until it overflows the top of the bowl. (For accurate results, the faucet outlet must be below the water surface with no air bubbling in the water for at least two minutes) 3Turn off the faucet and quickly submerge one of the sample vials and cap into the water as deeply as possible. Immediately cap the filled sample vial while still underwater; making sure that there are no air bubbles inside the sample vial. Repeat this step for the second sample vial. 4Hold each sample vial upside down and check for air bubbles. If bubbles are present, dump the sample out and repeat step 3 until there are no visible air bubbles. (Test results will be compromised if air bubbles are present). 5Completely fill out the location information card. (Analysis can not be conducted unless all of the information is recorded). STANDARD LAB RESULTS Within 1 week after PRO-LAB has received your sample vials, we will send you an easy to read evaluation of the radon level in your water, using EPA approved standard method 7500-RN.
